Kentucky pulls the registered agent duty for every entity type into one statute: KRS 14A.4-010, within the Kentucky Business Entity Filing Act (KRS Chapter 14A), which requires each domestic and foreign entity on file with the Commonwealth to continuously maintain a registered agent and registered office in Kentucky. The agent may be an individual resident or an authorized business entity, the office must be a street address (identical to the agent’s business address), and Kentucky requires the agent’s signed consent - you cannot draft someone into the job. The Secretary of State in Frankfort is a famously fast filing office: apart from annual reports, documents are usually processed the same day they arrive and never more than three business days out, with online filing available through the FastTrack system and the Kentucky Business One Stop portal (onestop.ky.gov). Every entity files an annual report between January 1 and June 30, with a token $15 fee, and there is no grace period beyond it: domestic entities not on file July 1 are administratively dissolved, and foreign entities lose their authority.
